Our greatest strength is our infrastructure.I do agree with this assessment.With a district as large as Plano, it is impressive how much they budget to keep our technology up to date and give access to all students anywhere in the district.I have access to everything I need from home anytime.Students and parents also have 24/7 access to student work, attendance and grades.Students have an email system to be able to communicate with their teachers and the district has eNews and the capability to email parents when grades get below passing or if a student is absent from a class.They also have myPISD which allows teachers to post assignments, announcements and calendars for both students and parents to access via the Internet.Plano has worked hard to make effective technology and a quality infrastructure apriority.

Our weakness comes in online learning.We lack the professional development of our teachers and the access to online communication tools.I do agree with this assessment.Many of the projects that teachers do that incorporate technology have been the same for many years.They use the productivity tools, but not as much the online tools.They have a hard time incorporating tools that are difficult to manage for all students.Plus the district is sending a message that they don’t want students accessing online tools by blocking them in a school environment.
